The Legal & Compliance Department operates as one team and globally supports all business units and business functions of Corbion concerning all types of legal and compliance matters. The compliance function provides support with matters related to Corbion’s Code of Business Conduct, whistleblower procedure, conflict of interests, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, competition law, economic sanctions, data protection/privacy and insider trading. Corbion's Legal and Compliance Department currently consists of 8 professionals, located in the Netherlands (3 in Amsterdam & 2 in Gorinchem), USA (2 in Kansas) and Brazil (1 in São Paulo).

 

As our Compliance & Privacy Counsel, you will be based in our global corporate headquarters in the center of Amsterdam (with the possibility to partly work from home). You will report to the Senior Compliance Counsel, who is also based in Amsterdam.  

 

About the job

 

Within the Legal & Compliance Department, as our Compliance Counsel you are responsible for further developing and promoting the compliance program within Corbion. More specifically, you will perform the following tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Provide advice and guidance to all areas of the business in relation to privacy, including negotiating data processing agreements, conducting privacy impact assessments, and maintaining the record of processing activities
  • Provide subject matter expert advice and guidance to all areas of the business in relation to the Corbion Code of Business Conduct and underlying policies and procedures, in cooperation with the other members of the Legal & Compliance Department.
  • Increase awareness for compliance internally, amongst others by preparing internal communications about relevant initiatives, maintaining the Business Conduct and Privacy pages on the intranet and addressing compliance and privacy questions from colleagues and business partners
  • Oversee compliance trainings and support privacy trainings
  • Support the screening of prospective business partners’ procedure in terms of anti-corruption and economic sanctions.
  • Work closely together with the other members of Corbion Legal & Compliance Department and with the members of other Corbion departments (e.g. communications, HR, Marketing, IT) regularly in sharing practices and setting compliance policies.

 

About you

 

As our ideal candidate, you hold a Master’s degree in Law (LLM)  combined with at least 4 years of relevant, preferably in-house, work experience.

 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in privacy legislation and regulation, preferably in Europe
  • Knowledge or familiarity with relevant (international) rules and regulations and affinity with compliance issues.
  • Knowledge of and experienced in IT and documentation systems for compliance tools and processes.
  • The ability to identify and clearly explain compliance risks.
  • Excellent ethical reputation, must inspire trust and be seen neutral; approachable.
  • Team player and self-starter.
  • Ability to listen and communicate well with and relate to others, including those of different nationalities & cultures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • At least 32 hours availability is required.
