Fill Room Technician

The Fill Room Technician is responsible for packaging and material handling activities according to written procedures in the Fill Room including filling and packaging lactic acid and derivatives as well as moving packaged finished product. In this role, you will also assist in all areas of Supply Chain and Operations. The ideal candidate will feel confident working independently and will maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Filling Operations
- Safe, clean and accurate packaging of lactic acid (in different concentrations) and its derivatives. Includes completing all required documentation, making labels, packaging and cleaning the fill lines per company standards.
- Operation and minor maintenance/trouble shooting of the packaging equipment, floor scales, conveyor and wrapper machines.
- Transacting information in the SAP system and the filling equipment.
- Maintaining a safe work environment by maintaining cleanliness standards and operating the equipment and utilities in a safe manner.
Material Handing Operations
- Receives empty packaging containers from trucks, verifies counts, makes appropriate transactions into SAP system, applies correct documentation/labels and moves product to proper storage locations.
- Performs cycle count functions of finished goods and raw material product, utilizing SAP and Excel systems and following written instructions.
- Accurately transacts activity records to SAP system as needed.
- Troubleshoots and performs minor maintenance on material handling equipment. Maintains clean and safe working environment.
- Executes QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality.
- Performs within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proficiency in basic mathematics, calculating and computer skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in liquids packaging or in a filling operation is preferred
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment including Forklifts and Turret trucks
- Experience reading specifications and interpreting routine production operating procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot machinery including the filling equipment and the conveyors
General Working Environment:
- Fill Room Technicians are required to work in a plant, with some tasks taking place outside of the plant.
- Fill Room Technicians will fill and package Lactic Acid and will have to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields, rubber gloves, hair nets, aprons and uniform clothing.
- Temperature inside and outside the facility will range between -15oF and 120oF depending on location and the activities involved.
Usual Physical Activities:
Through the course of a typical shift an individual in this position will perform the following activities;
- Must be able to perform moderately heavy physical activity 25% to 50% of time and lift weight up to 50lbs
- Must be able to lift or pull heavy objects daily, in excess of 50lbs
- Prolonged Standing, 20% of the time
- Walks extensively, 20% of the time
- Kneels,
- Bends, repetitively
- Squatting, repetitively
- Reaches above and below the shoulders
- Traverses plant levels via stairs, frequently
