Corbion is seeking a QA Coordinator in Blair, NE. The QA Coordinator is responsible for several areas of the quality management system and providing support during customer visits and third party audits. Duties and responsibilities include the QA programs for lactic acid and derivatives production facilities and ensuring food safety/quality standards are met. Other responsibilities include guiding processes such as management of change, new product/process implementation, internal/external auditing, and process consultation. 




  • Prepare and coordinate the policies, procedures, and forms within the document control system.


  • Ensures ongoing compliance to, but not limited to, HACCP, GMP’s, BRC, Kosher, Halal, Organic, and Gluten-free.


  • Host customer visits and provide management support during 3rd party audits.


  • Conduct internal quality assurance compliance audits of products and processes.


  • Perform external audits of potential suppliers or contractors or service providers.


  • Provide support to the engineering and technology team and other departments for new product developments and process improvements.


  • Propose, write, and/or review QC and QA Standard Operating Procedures. Maintains the plant Document Control System.


  • Assist with tracking, reporting, and solving internal and external complaints regarding products or deliveries alongside all departments in such a way that problems and complaints are being solved with a focus on long term internal and external customer satisfaction.


  • Maintains current and accurate records of all relevant communications, audits, corrective action plans, and effectiveness monitoring.


  • Initiate actions necessary to prevent occurrence of non-conformities relating to food safety and quality of the product or processes.


  • Organize and participate in problem solving sessions and be accountable for timely completion of corrective and preventive actions.


  • Actively lead or participate in the HACCP team.


  • Initiate, implement, and monitor improvement processes.


  • Support global platform objectives.


  • Compile data and write narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.


  • Provide back-up support for the QA/QC Manager or QC Coordinator as needed to maintain QA/QC practices and ensure product availability.


  • Executes QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality.


  • Implements, executes and promotes food safety of our products through the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), performance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security Measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations.  These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure the products safety and quality are in compliance. 


General Working Environment


  • The QA Coordinator is required to work in an office environment and occasionally the laboratory; with some tasks taking place inside of and outside of the plant.   


  • The QA Coordinator is subject to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields, rubber gloves and uniform clothing.


  • Temperature inside and outside the facility will range between -15oF and 120oF depending on location and the activities involved.

  • Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are usually involved in performing written and verbal job functions.




  • BA or BS degree in a science discipline and experience in a food or pharmaceutical facility.


  • Minimum of four years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical facility with similar applications.  


  • HACCP certification preferred.


  • Internal auditor certification preferred.


  • Travel and on-call availability are required.


  • PC literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


  • Knowledge and experience using problem solving techniques.


  • Knowledge and understanding of basic quality assurance programs and concepts.


  • Basic knowledge and understanding of food regulations.


  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.


  • Database experience preferred.
