The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the site EHS Manager in all aspects of the company's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or education in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures, as well as providing training to employees on EHS topics.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in the development and implementation of EHS policies, programs, and

           procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry
           standards.

  • Monitor and evaluate workplace hazards and recommend appropriate control

           measures.

  • Conduct EHS training for employees and management, and help ensure that all

           employees receive required EHS training.

  • Maintain and update EHS records, including incident reports, inspection reports,

           and training records.

  • Assist in investigation of incidents and accidents, and recommend corrective and

          preventative measures.

  • Provide guidance and support to Departmental Supervisors and hourly

           employees on EHS issues.

  • Conduct audits and inspections to identify potential EHS risks and hazards.
  • Collaborate with the EHS Manager and other departmental leaders to assist in EHS

             compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Maintain knowledge of new and emerging EHS regulations and standards.
  • Executes QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality.
  • Performs within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations.  These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance. 

 

General Working Environment

  • EHS Specialists will split their time between an administrative/office setting and in a

            plant atmosphere.

  • Temperatures in office settings are climate controlled. Temperatures inside

            and outside the facility will range between -15oF and 120oF depending on
             location and the activities involved.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Professional certification in EHS (e.g. CSP, CIH, CSM).
  • 1-3 years of experience in EHS, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial

            setting.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, or

           a related field preferred but not required.

 

Usual Physical Activities
Though the EHS Specialist role is not a physically demanding one, over the course
of a shift an individual in this position may perform the following activities;

 

  • Must be able to perform moderately heavy physical activity 25% of time

           and lift weight up to 50lbs

  • Must be able to lift or pull heavy objects, in excess of 50lbs
  • Sit,
  • Prolonged Standing, up to 20% of the time
  • Walks extensively, up to 20% of the time
  • Kneels,
  • Bends,
  • Squatting,
  • Reaching above and below the shoulders,
  • Traverses multiple plant levels via stairs, frequently
  • Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are involved in performing written and

           verbal job functions.
