As our next Utilities Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation and preventive maintenance of the plant utilities including steam generation and distribution, water capitation, treatment and distribution, chillers, compressed air, condensate water return, low and medium voltage substations and electric distribution, emergency generators, liquid nitrogen storage and distribution, sprinklers and fire water distribution systems, deionized water systems, cooling towers and cooling water distribution and aerobic / anaerobic wastewater treatment stations supporting operations and legal requirements, at the lowest economically feasible cost. 

 

 

  • Drives utilities improvements in cost, availability, and reliability, while insuring full regulatory compliance, including environment, health, safety - meeting all Federal, State, local, and corporate requirements.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers and contractors in the improvement of existing processes, incorporation of new technology, and seamless integration of new load requirements into utility operation.
  • Create and monitor performance indicators that ensure the quality of the service provided to internal consumers and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Develops technical training programs to enable staff ability to support equipment and technology. Provide on the job training and instruction in all aspects of the field
  • Maintain training files on subordinate employees and encourage them to participate in seminars, training programs and on the job training.
  • Provide oral instruction, recommendations and assistance to subordinates.
  • Develops and reviews operation procedures, reports and statistics.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs.
  • Reviews multiple capital project plans and collaborates on equipment utility needs, modifications and upgrades with engineering department.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures. Develop new training programs as needed to meet expanding requirements.
  • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
  • Analyzing, graphing, interpreting, and preparing data reports.
  • Work with Engineering to review drawings and reflect “as is” discoveries, plan and layout new systems so that systems are effective, reliable and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. 

 

Your profile
 

Beyond an educational background in mechanical, chemical or electric Engineering or related fields we need you to have:

 

  • 5+ years in utilities
