The Corbion manufacturing facility in Dolton, Illinois is looking for a growth oriented Process Engineer to provide process design expertise and implement/manage a continuous improvement program. This role is a member of our plant leadership team and is a crucial contributor to the overall operational success.  The ideal candidate will thrive in our fast-paced plant, balancing priorities as a working engineer and Continuous Improvement Champion.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying, scoping, and successfully completing capital projects.
  • Troubleshoot, identify and implement projects to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and expenses.
  • Identify design flaws and engineer solutions to eliminate design deficiencies.
  • Support process control system improvements including programming of automated processes.
  • Identify plant optimization and improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate and improve overall equipment efficiency.
  • Coordinate improvements and enhancements with the maintenance department.
  • Partner with the entire operations team to improve operations and systems with a focus on reducing operational costs.
  • Champion the objectives, efforts and goals of the Continuous Improvement program, including education and implementation, to the Dolton staff.
  • Supervise production staff in the absence of Production Supervisors.
  • Implement, execute and promote food safety of our products through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), and all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations.  These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure the plant's food safety, food quality, and food defense program are in compliance.
  • Assist in the local implementation of SAP.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred, but could be Industrial or Mechanical with appropriate process experience) or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a food or chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Successful background of leading a Continuous Improvement (Lean) program in a production environment.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, mentoring, and team building skills; team management experience required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with high level of organization and communicate effective, regular updates.
  • Dynamic communication skills, ability to build strong rapport with all levels of the organization. 
  • Proven success making decisions based on technological and engineering knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of internal and external regulatory codes and standards, ability to apply them to manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis teams investigating incidents and process improvements.
  • Identify and track technical trends which impact manufacturing and our industry.
  • Functional lead and liaison to other groups for engineering projects and continuous improvement related work.
