We haven an opportunity for an Analytical Chemistry Team Leader to join our R&D Team. You will be part of a highly international and multidisciplinary Science & Technology (S&T) department within Lactic Acid Specialties business unit. S&T has a central role providing long-term developments and analytical support to Biochemicals and Biomaterials. It is a full-time position, located at Gorinchem, the Netherlands.

 

Responsibilities

 

As our Analytical Chemistry Team Leader you will coordinate the analytical efforts of a team of 9 direct reports with varying levels of experience. The team carries out analysis of polymers, lactic acid and its derivatives using techniques such as; HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, GPC, DSC, TGA, IR, Raman and more. This role requires a strong background in analytical chemistry and excellent coordinating skills. Furthermore, this role also involves:

 

  • Efficiently managing routine analysis and new method development
  • Provide guidance, training and develop the analytical team
  • Review the analytical data and reports
  • Write SOPs and technical reports, and transfer methods to our QC department
  • Ensure project deliverables are scientifically accurate and meet timeline expectations
  • Effectively and professionally communicate project status to internal stakeholders
  • Investigate and solve technical issues with a hands-on approach
  • Assists with or lead new method development
  • Coordinate external analysis

 

About you

 

  • MSc in Chemistry with analytical emphasis
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading people and projects in the area of analytical sciences
  • Broad knowledge in chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of polymer characterization and polymer analysis
  • Excellent leadership skills including coaching and influencing competencies
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborations across teams at all levels
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
