Principal Process Engineer

As a Principal Process Engineer  at Corbion you contribute to the engineering, construction and commissioning of new or modified production facilities. Reporting to Director Global Engineering, you are responsible for developing the process designs used in our bio-based processes. You work with a close group of colleagues with the same passion for designing and building processes to implement Corbion technologies. You will work in a multidisciplinary project team in which you will contribute to the process design. You are able to draw upon colleagues from various research, engineering and commercial disciplines and contribute to an innovative and inspiring environment.   
Since Corbion is the global leader in lactic acid production, we develop our own technology. You are part of a project team responsible for the design and engineering of, for example, 2 unit operations in a larger project (consisting of 8 or 10). Or work on several smaller projects by a matrix structure which is also part of our daily engineering business.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the process engineering (from Conceptual through to Detail engineering), construction and commissioning of new or modified production facilities.
• Drive and facilitate decision making and guide third party engineers or vendors in the efforts to completion of the design.
• Collaborate with Research and Development to ensure the development of robust, cost-effective processes.
• Support the deployment of Engineering and Process Safety standards within the design.
• Possess and learn the design discipline to influence a project on the basis of cost, timeline and quality.
• Create, review and evaluate Corbion and third party engineering documents, like: P&IDs, PFD’s, Heat and mass balance, equipment data sheets, piping system designs, URS, equipment and package drawings, etc.
• Support projects and operating companies world-wide with, HAZOP, ATEX/NFPA reviews, permitting, commissioning and start-up of new plants and plant extension or implementation of new technologies.
• Actively contribute to the safety performance of the company and incident reviews, by distance or locally at the several production locations of Corbion.

About You

In addition to your educational achievements with a at least a Bachelor degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or equivalent practical experience, as the successful candidate for the position of Principal Process Engineer you must also have at least 15 years of relevant experience in similar industries. Other qualifications we are looking for:

• Atleast 10 years of equivalent and relevant experience as a process engineer in similar industries, at least partly in an international setting.
• Experienced in working in multi-disciplinary project teams in a multi-cultural setting.
• Awareness of the cost aspects within CAPEX projects.
• Very good interpersonal skills, good analytical and problem solving capabilities, team player and strong communicator.
• Willingness to work for periods of months abroad (i.e. Thailand/China/US/Brazil).
• On average 25% travel abroad is mandatory.
• Good command of both written and spoken English.
