Senior Technician

Corbion is seeking a Senior Technician in Fermentation R&D based in Gorinchem.  This is a great opportunity for those with strong knowledge in fermentation who are eager to further develop their skills. You'll be collaborating with a talented and diverse team on projects that shape the future of functional food ingredients.

As a Senior Technician in our Fermentation R&D team, your key responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to innovation projects and customer support projects. Lead, coordinate, plan and execute project elements, including external activities (pilot, OPS, partners). 
• Manage short term innovation and customer support projects, translating business goals/requests to experimental set-ups. 
• Prepare project design, planning, and execution of research independently. Present realistic planning and deliverables. Develop new protocols and procedures for R&D activities.
• Assist in onboarding, supervision and support of students and technicians in preparation, planning and execution of research. Share knowledge with focus on practical knowledge and experimental approach. 
• Ensure documentation and reporting of procedures and results according to the Corbion standards.
• Critically evaluate own and team data and results. Process and analyze results, monitor results during research, adjust research where necessary. Signal IP opportunities. Present, explain and discuss results with the team, project team or other departments. Give clear and well-motivated recommendations to team lead and project team.   
• Support other areas within the organization (product management, operations, procurement) with input,  information and by supporting technical questions. 
• Participate in maintaining the facilities, equipment, and safety in the labs. 
• Literature research and proper storage/collection of relevant articles. Maintain up to date scientific knowledge on specific fields.

We are looking for individuals with:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in fermentation and laboratory activities.
• Strong communication skills and an ability to work effectively in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexible, creative, proactive, and can-do mentality.
• Teamplayer with customer focused and solution oriented mindset.
• Ability to balance pragmatism with thoroughness.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
