Corbion is looking for an Intern who is currently or recently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in the ingredient solutions industry supporting our Meat Industry team's internal projects for use in various product segments. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest, and apply them to a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that a student/entry level team member can play in a corporate setting, and be better prepared to work in the arena of ingredient solutions.

 

He or she will have the opportunity to network, define, and build relationships within our operations, supply chain, sales, HR, and research & development departments, acting as a great teammate to meet internal deadlines and expectations. Our organization is focused on delivering solutions that bring value for our customers and have decades of experience in the ingredient solutions industry.

 

Job Responsibility:

  • Managing work projects, working both independently and collaboratively with others, to meet project timelines and deliverables
  • Conducting literature searches, assimilate information and apply to benchtop or production trials to advance projects
  • Working with team members to design, conduct and analyze trials and experimental data
  • Maintaining a clean, safe work environment; following established guidelines for good housekeeping, GMPs, and safety
  • Working with our team members and other internal colleagues to meet target objectives
  • Presenting new ingredients post-processing, project status, updates and outcomes to team and key partners
  • Push to continually drive personal and organizational results, take educated risks on business opportunities and benchmark external best practices to outperform the competition
  • Regularly identify areas that can be improved and constructively propose new solutions that increase value and improve business performance; as well as explore multiple possibilities for tackling challenges, think out of the box to determine the best solution.
  • Challenge the status quo and promote ambitious thinking in order to add new value
  • Integrate data sets from multiple sources and utilize tools to support department initiatives and projects
  • Participate in Lunch & Learns, and internship training programs
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by department staff
 

Skills, Qualifications, and Education Requirements:

  • Progress towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food or Meat Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Meat or Animal Health.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Interest in the meat/ingredient solutions industry.
  • Familiarity with experimental design, statistical data analysis and interpretation of results
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e. g. making presentations and writing technical reports
  • Ability to think and work independently while collaborating with others in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver against agreed deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail
