Manager, Commodity Procurement

As the Procurement Commodity Category Manager, you will be accountable for sourcing and managing core commodity categories for North America. You will explore, develop, and execute category strategies, engaging with supplier base and internal cross-functional teams. You will be accountable for costs savings ideation and delivering against individual, department and company annual targets.



  • Utilize category expertise to develop, recommend and execute procurement strategies for assigned categories.
  • Provide market pricing strategies and relative market intelligence information to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze contracts and commitments to ensure limited financial risk.
  • Develop, recommend and submit annual budget numbers for assigned categories and monthly updates.
  • Proactively manage the relationship between price movement and specific business risk.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders including R&D, Operations, C&D, Marketing, and Pricing.
  • Oversee short and long term cost savings opportunities within the total supply chain of assigned categories.



  • Bachelor's Degree in economics, food industry, business or related disciplines. Master's/MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in procurement/supply chain function within consumer packaged goods or food industry.
  • Prior risk management / hedging experience, specifically commodity risk management and hedging experience in grains.
  • Proven success in market dynamics within the commodity categories and the impact of price volatility on business performance. 
  • Subject matter expert of assigned commodity category markets and the supply/demand fundamentals that make up price risk management.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting practices and the effects of hedging on COGS.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a cross functional matrix environment where responsibilities are layered throughout the organization.
  • Ability to organize cross-functional teams to champion change throughout the organization.
  • Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Knowledge of contract management and resolution procedures.
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) with strong ability to understand/communicate/present and execute complex procurement strategies.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office application. Advanced Excel skills, required.
  • Travel up to 10%, may be required
