The Principal Scientist, Enzymes at Corbion plays a key role in delivering Food Technology and Application projects, contributing to the execution of the our growth strategy.  This position reports to the Director, Technology and Functional Blends and serves as Subject Matter Expert to projects and programs that focus on enzyme technology, their functionality, and impact on a variety of food applications, including bakery applications.

 

In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal and external partners to build, maintain, and deliver a robust and effective Innovation Pipeline.  The ideal candidate will be confident as a key player in translating the business strategy into the Technology Roadmap and its execution. You’ll spend your time successfully driving the research and exploration of new technologies and enzyme solutions and the improvement of existing ones.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify new growth opportunities, scouting new and existing technologies and their
    effective use in known and new applications. Lead building the enzyme biochemical analysis and research capabilities within the company.
  • Align with Product Managers to expand, improve, and optimize Corbion’s product portfolio.
  • Train internal and external stakeholders as global corporate subject matter expert.
  • Lead enzyme related projects related to the development of products/solutions to support customers
  • Ensure proper project planning, leading or actively contributing to key projects including identifying potential hurdles, evaluating options and solutions, creating tactical and strategic plans to overcome them.
  • Lead innovative idea generation, root-cause analysis, and problem solving discussions; drive the science/technologies in line with market trends, consumer and customer needs for innovative products.
  • Partner with enzyme suppliers to learn and transform their new technologies into application solutions, creating value to Corbion and our customers.
  • Support Technology and Functional Blends and Application Teams to maintain and upgrade labs with new equipment and technologies.
     

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, Cereal Chemistry. Any further educations/PhD is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (+15 years) in enzyme analysis, development, functionality, and
    application in food.
  • Proven success translating scientific/technical knowledge into profitable business opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of innovation processes and project management in a multi-functional global project environment.
  • Strong team-player skills: build on expertise of others, and able to connect the dots to drive for success.
  • Available to travel up to 30%.
