We are seeking a Scientist, Meat to join our Meat Application, Research, Technology, and Sciences (ARTS) team. You will be responsible for the applications, development and implementation of solutions and innovations for the North American (NAM) meat market. You will function as the meat processing expert for NAM and Global meat application teams and participate in the innovation program and projects as a project leader or member to deliver the objectives of the Corbion Food Strategy.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • In-house subject matter expert of meat science in terms of Preservation, Oxidation, Ingredient Interaction.
  • Manage the meat applications laboratory and safety risks of the meat laboratory.
  • Lead Meat Innovation Platforms to achieve Innovation Strategy targets.
  • In collaboration with the ARTS team, design, lead and execute meat application projects, harvest intervention trials, challenge studies, sensory panels and shelf life studies .
  • Provide meat technical training to leadership, sales, distributors and internal customers.
  • Support existing and new customers through collaboration projects as well as technical support (product/application information, meat application work, predictive modeling).
  • Represent Corbion's expertise at customers, research associations and industry events.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Masters of Science (Meat Science, Food Science or related Major), or Bachelors of Science with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • 5+ years of R&D (technical, product application development) experience in meat/food science. A track record of successful meat/food science related research and publications are strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of project management experience.
  • Ability to set up and effectively manage a pilot meat facility.
  • Open and easy communicator: Able to listen well and work together with sales, marketing, customers, application, product development and food micro.
  • Self-starter/time-management: Able to initiate projects and bring new ideas into the organization. Capable of self-management, and multiple project/tasks management.
  • Problem solving ability and agility to efficiently develop solutions based on customer-based applications and specifications.
  • Team-player: Builds on expertise of others, and is able to connect the dots to drive for optimal results for Corbion.
  • Problem solving skills, understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis.
  • Customer focus, drive for results/can-do mentality: Work with high motivation and passion to deliver results.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills: Work successfully in cross-functional teams and Matrix work environment.
  • May need to travel overnight 20-30%.
