Corbion is looking for a proactive, team oriented Bakery Scientist with a can-do attitude to play a key role in developing new products for the baking industry, supporting internal partners and guiding customers. This team works closely with the bakery industry team and RDA technology teams in leading and executing projects that will deliver products to meet the market and customer needs.  The ideal candidate is highly motivated and organized, able to manage multiple projects at once.  Communication skills are also key to success in this role, which is based in Lenexa, Kansas.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work as a technical leader and/or a team member in a cross-functional team environment to deliver business needed results.
  • Conduct and manage assigned projects independently from initial research through generating reports and making presentations regarding results, all while adhering to timelines and cost constraints.
  • Transfer bench top development to pilot scale production and retail/wholesale manufacturing.
  • Work with customers to launch new products, train on new technologies, trouble shoot problems and offer technical solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for both internal and external partners.
  • Take on additional tasks as needed to support company's business goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, Cereal Chemistry, or related fields with 5+ years technical experience/development work with a major food or food ingredient company is required. 
  • Master’s Degree, AIB, or CMB a plus.
  • Must be broadly trained in food science technologies, application knowledge in functional ingredients related to baking including as grains, flours, starches, fibers, sweeteners, hydrocolloids, lipids, enzymes, oxidation, emulsifiers, preservatives and leavening agents.
  • Strong formulation and industrial processing knowledge relating to bakery products.
  • Customer focused, results-driven approach, capable of building trusted relationship with customers and become their go-to expert.
  • Proven understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis.
  • May need to travel overnight 20-30%.
