A skilled Competitive Intelligence Manager (CIM) can translate market needs into the language of scientists, business leaders, sales, exec/senior management and operations. As our next SCIM, you will be responsible for analyzing Corbion’s ever-changing competitive landscape. You will play a pivotal role in collecting, interpreting and distributing intelligence on market conditions, competitors, and technology developments for business decision making. You will work closely with product managers, business development, sales, marketing, regulatory, IP, R&D and operations to ensure that competitive intelligence support the company's overall strategy, Functional Ingredients and Solutions (FIS) strategy and goals.
The SCIM role is based in our North American Headquarters in Lenexa, KS and reports to the Director, Product Management.
Responsibilities:
• Lead objective analysis of competitive information by collecting, interpreting and distributing intelligence on market conditions, competitors, customers and technology developments to support business decision making.
• Manage the technology/product competitive network with Service Providers (Market Reports and Import/Export software providers), CI Analyst, Market Insights, IP, Product/Pricing managers, Regulatory, Business Development, R&D and Sales/Applications to passively and actively collect data.
• Investigate in-kind and not in-kind technologies and measure competitive performance, including revenues and market share, weaknesses/dangers and opportunities.
• Manage and improve a holistic competitive intelligence data base by working with current systems, new programming and new IT tools.
• Develop and make recommendations for business strategy based on competitive market dynamics.
• Manage and use and/or integrate market data, internal Corbion data and secondary data which will contribute to allowing Corbion product managers to anticipate the market and competitive shifts/developments needed to make proactive, market-based tactical and strategic decisions such as pricing and share gain opportunities.
• Define market share position globally and regionally. Work through Product Management and Marketers to determine and communicate the Addressable vs Reference vs Attainable Market for product lines/categories.
• Contribute to socialize intelligence both actively and passively with technical and commercial teams.
• Support the implementation of the strategic plan (5-10 years) and business plan (1-3 years) with the FIS business leads, and ensure with Sales, Ops, Applications, Business Development and Marketing that the annual sales budget is met or exceeded.
• Develop, lead and manage one direct report.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Food, Biology, Chemistry, Business/Marketing or related field. Preferably Master’s degree in food, marketing, business, or data analytics.
• 10+ years of work experience in multiple roles (e.g. technical sales, procurement, finance/pricing, market or competitive intelligence, consultancy, industry or product management).
• Proven communication skills to lead cross functional teams and manage key internal stakeholders.
• Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills, capable of driving insight to action.
• Skills in data, both quantitative and qualitative, analysis.
• Ability to handle the complexity of a matrix organization.
• Hands-on self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit and a team player.
• Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 10%.
