The Technologist V position is based in the Lenexa North American corporate office and reports directly to the Analytical Services Manager. As our next Technologist V, you will provide your analytical expertise and support to the internal customers for projects, by partnering with the other R&D teams, Applications and Technical Service, Sales, and Business Development to provide analytical support for innovation and customer projects. The ideal candidate will be an analytical chemist with experiences relevant to chemical analysis in food ingredients, capable of running established methodology relevant to analysis of ingredient or finished product samples submitted by all Global technical divisions.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to multidisciplinary projects: participate in project teams and perform tasks such as data processing and analyses, writing/presenting reports, concluding and recommending.
- Prepare project design, planning, and execution of research independently according to the known procedures.
- Execute analysis of samples on time in support of our Sustainable Food Solutions (SFS) business and analytical needs.
- Ensure documentation and reporting of procedures and report results according to the Corbion standards, including methods and techniques used.
- Analyze, interpret and process results or experiments, monitor results during research and adjust research when necessary (measure quality of analyses and interpretations, timely actions).
- Present, discuss and defend results with the team or other departments.
- Actively participate in maintaining facilities, equipment, and ensuring the safety of all personnel and visitors in the labs.
- Contribute to (and utilize) knowledge for projects and the overall business.
- Collaborate with external labs and consultants.
- Execute validation and implementation of analytical methods.
- Contribute (with other subject matter experts in technology and application teams and from external party/network) to the quality of the SFS input toward supported projects, provides technical overviews of analytical techniques employed, and insights from industry (technology trends, best analytical techniques, alternative analyses, new methodology).
- Other duties as determined by business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Food Science or other related discipline with 2 + years of experience; Master of Science with 1+ years of experience as part of a research and development program preferred.
- Experience with analytical techniques such as gas chromatography and liquid chromatography.
- Understanding of the principles of chemical analysis, food science, laboratory analytical techniques, and lab equipment.
- Customer focus (both internal and external), drive for results, and can-do mentality. Works with high motivation and passion to deliver results.
- Ability tto initiate projects and bring new ideas into the organization.
- Excellent problem solving skills, understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis of data
- Passionate about food, food preservation, and innovation.
