Production Operator

Corbion is seeking a Production Operator for our Montgomery, Alabama location. In this role, you will monitor and control vinegar production processes ensure products are manufactured within required specifications for quantity, quality, timing, safety, and regulatory compliance. This position performs production sampling, nutrient batch preparation, physical inventories, laboratory work, data entry, tanker loading and unloading, and basic maintenance activities.
Essential Functions
- Monitor production processes in the plant and remotely, based on the standard operating procedures, regulations, customer specifications and additional instructions of the supervisor. This includes start-up, operation, control, monitoring and regulation of processes and measuring (manually and via control equipment) and addition of raw and auxiliary materials.
- Take samples for in-process determinations or laboratory analysis.
- Receive and create Bill of Ladings for bulk shipments and print labels for finished goods.
- Keep production facilities in operational condition to achieve minimum loss of productivity and maximum availability including cleaning activities in the buildings and grounds in accordance with documented procedures and regulations.
- Complete basic maintenance activities or enter work orders for their completion.
- Help train co-workers in daily tasks.
- Register data and hand over production processes to guarantee optimal progress of the process.
- Execute QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality.
- Perform within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), security measures, housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment preferred.
- Process operator experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and BPCS.
- Ability to multi-task and work accurately in a production environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
- Forklift operation experience or ability to become qualified.
- Laboratory skills and ability to identify safety hazards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Environment
Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with large open floor areas, loud machinery, and exposure to production equipment and raw materials. The role may require work in elevated temperatures during summer months and colder environments during winter months. Employees may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, hair and beard nets, gloves, and respiratory protection where required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy physical activity, including lifting and pulling materials as required by the role.
- Ability to lift, pull, or move objects greater than 50 pounds as part of daily work activities.
- Ability to climb, bend, squat, stand, walk, push, pull, reach, grasp, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to qualify for and use a dust mask or respirator when required.
