Automation Lead

Our lactic acid and derivatives plant In Spain, Montmeló (Barcelona), services all of our markets; Food, Biochemicals and Pharma. This site is labeled as an Innovation Plant within Corbion, meaning that this is often the first location to produce new products and implement new technologies.

In this position, you report into the Engineering Team leader, and your responsibilities for this position will be:

• Lead a team of internal and external automation engineers.
• Design, testing, implementation and maintenance of automated devices and machinery in site
• Design, testing and implementation of automation discipline in CAPEX and Expansion projects
• Lead expansion and end-of-life strategy in automation infrastructure - expansion & end of life roadmap
• Lead quality engineering process and delivery of high-quality software
• Lead goals in the Industry 4.0 implementation
• Work closely with CAPEX and/or Expansion projects teams to understand the project requirements, review project scopes, define architecture, select automation partner and manage implementation progress
• Implement automation improvements and help the team to deliver a project on time.
• Assist maintenance, operations and technology in problem solving technical problems with facility machinery/installations
• Ensure accomplishment of GMP Quality requirements during all the project design, implementation and delivery.
• Report well-structured strategies/plans & status for end-of-life projects and expansion projects, including estimation, planning and risk assessment. Clarity in setting priorities considering risks evaluation and providing mitigation measures.
• Prioritize work and efficient utilization of resources
• Provide recommendations on new tools and innovations designed to increase the performance and efficiency of the Automation Department.
• Directly supervision and management of automation partners and consultants

About you

In addition to your educational achievements with an Industrial, Chemical or Automation Engineering background, as the successful candidate for the position of Automation Lead you must also have:

• >5 years of experience involved in automation in chemical, food or pharma manufacturing environment
• Experience in industrial automation processes (maintenance and programming), being the following ones the most relevant.
  • PLC Siemens (TIA Portal and STEP7)
  • SCADA Systems Platform from AVEVA
  • InBatch
  • Experience with PLC Beckhoff, Twincat and InControl as a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial infrastructures like virtual environment (vmware),TCP/IP networks and Modbus as a plus
• Knowledge in regulations related to validation of industrial control systems like GAMPS, CFR 21 part 11, anex 11 UE, GMP’s, etc.
• Experience in instrumentation and field bus design (Profibus, Profinet)
• Experience of power & control cabinets & installation design
• The ability to self-study and quickly learn and punt into practice new topics
• Abilities for team leadership & team building
• Experience in installation, erection or/and revamping of installations (automation area)
• Accustomed to establish relationships with automation & consultant contractors
• Good command of English (Minimum B2 level)
• Proactive and autonomous behavior
• Basic PRL (*) certificate (50 h) (*) Spanish law
