Manager, EHS

Corbion is seeking an EHS Manager based at the Peoria, IL plant, reporting to the Plant Director.  This position will also support the Lenexa America's Headquarters as a remote resource with expectation to visit site once per month.  In this role, you will direct, plan, and implement occupational EH&S loss prevention programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety. Safety is our top priority and the ideal candidate will have experience ensuring compliance with EH&S regulations and industry standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health & safety programs and initiatives.
• Manage Corbion’s Behavioral Based Safety Program to ensure we meet or exceed safety KPI’s.
• Follow GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), FSMA, Safety, and Environmental regulations and company policies.
• Maintain positive attitude and focus on safety, teamwork, and quality productivity.  
• Perform and document safety inspections of work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards and policies.
• Support the Lenexa site with regards to EHS.
• Complete required Environmental Reports
• Manage Environmental Permitting and Workers Compensation.
• Ensure Site Safety for visitors, vendors, contractors and maintain safety equipment supply and availability.
• Lead Site ISO 45001 program including annual 3rd party audits.
• Serve as the point of contact to the Global EH&S Platform Lead and lead safety committees.
• Lead incident investigations including root cause analysis and track corrective action/ preventive action (CAPA).
• Lead sustainability efforts for the site
• Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)’s with in-house and external contractors regularly.
• Oversee the Management of Change process.
• Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or Industrial Hygiene.
• 3+ years of safety or environmental experience in a manufacturing environment. 
• Extensive knowledge and experience with EH&S Management systems and processes.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulatory matters and industrial chemical process operations.
• Experience with Environmental Permitting is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of combustible dusts, LOTO, Confined Space, Respiratory, Working at Heights and Hot Work.
• Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Certified Safety Professional (PSP) or Certified Environmental Specialist preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, with some areas requiring hearing protection due to elevated noise levels.
• Workers may be exposed to elevated temperatures during the summer months; and some work may be required in cold environments during winter months.
• Dust may include exposure to food allergens.
