The Assistant Operations Manager – focus on Continuous Improvement is principally responsible for developing & leading the operational training programs to have qualified staff and ensure continuous development of the operations staff. He/she shall ensure compliance to quality, EHS system and Law & Regulations related to operating the plant to meet requirements of internal/external customers’, government and stakeholders to the business. Additionally, he/she shall support superior in developing, maintaining the metrics and KPIs for the Operations Department to have continuous improvement and achieve operational excellence targets. Last but not least, he/she shall develop and implement of policy and strategy for a “Continuous Improvement” of Corbion business- and production processes in order to realize Operational Excellence and maximize the profit.

Prime role and responsibilities shall include, but not limit to:

Operations Excellence:

  • Support and prepare programs to eliminate losses resulting in a safe working environment, perfect quality, excellent customer service and competitive cost base.
  • Represent the operations department in investment/ improvement project to ensure the operations requirements are met related to operate ability, quality, safety and work flow.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and KPI’s for specific areas of focus in the operations department.

Analysis and Program Development:

  • Analyze CRA business processes identifying opportunities for improvement in the organization.
  • Define a policy and strategy for Continuous Improvement resulting of Operational Excellence in line with the corporate vision and strategy. 
  • Co-responsible, with the RTO Director Eagle, for achieving the ambition level as described in the output statement including  the Operational Excellence Goals defined by the Operational Index.
  • Pursue actively best-practices both in CRA organization and in other industries and select and/or design appropriate best-practices. Improve techniques and/or tools to implement in the CRA organization.
  • Manage the process for implementation of these techniques in the organization. Achieve clarity, understanding and support in the organization for the available techniques, tool and manpower, their applicability on situations, strengths and weaknesses and interrelationship. Assist in proper tool choice and application.


Project Management:

  • Initiate, coach and/or manage Continuous Improvement projects throughout all departments of the organization.
  • Plan of project activities, timelines, budget and staffing.
  • Ensure commitment to the project from all different areas of the organization
    And build motivated and effective teams for the projects.


Training/Coaching team members and others:

  • Motivate and encourage people from all levels and backgrounds to adopt the continuous improvement mentality and start implementing the concepts in their own work environment.
  • Act as a trainer and facilitator for both the Management Team and others in the organization making sure the organization becomes capable of using the selected tool autonomously.
  • Act as a motivator to implement these techniques and tools. Persuading people to start using the tools as an integral part of their jobs is key in achieving a continuously improving organization.



  • Define, implement and maintain proper safety and quality standards within the operations to ensure the pass of the audit and producing high quality product in the safe way.


Human Resources:

  • Lead the effort to maintain an adequate plant-organization: select and propose new recruitment, trained, motivated staffing and adequate headcount conforming to the plan, staff performance improvement.


Qualifications and Justifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry or related field
  • 10+ years of experience, of which 5 years in managerial position
  • Experienced in leading Continuous Improvement programs
  • Solid experience and knowledge in commissioning & start-up
  • Strong technical/business background in food or fine chemicals environment
  • Management experience of a production unit
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Proven training skills
  • Doing business in a multi-cultural setting
  • Solid skills in DCS control
  • Good communicative English
  • Good skill of computer esp. MS Office programs
  • Possess functional competency set e.g. Safety Awareness, Drive for Result, Communication, Continuous Improvement, Problem Solving, Leadership
