Laboratory Technician

The role
As a lab technician, you will play a key hands-on role in Corbion’s APAC innovation and customer support activities. Based in our Singapore headquarters, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary R&D team (Applications, Microbiology, Sensory, Analytics) to deliver high quality analytical and microbial testing that enables customer projects, supports sales and business development, and strengthens our technical leadership in the region. You will work with a diverse portfolio of established analytical methods, helping customers understand how our ingredients perform in real applications. You will regularly collaborate with our commercial teams and occasionally participate in customer discussions, giving this role a unique blend of lab work, project involvement, and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Analytical testing & reporting (primary focus)
- Perform analytical testing using established methods (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, GC, powder characterization, titrations, color measurements, sugar/enzyme analysis).
- Analyze, interpret, and validate results; adjust testing plans when needed to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Document methods, data, and results according to Corbion standards using our global OneRequest system for sample tracking and reporting.
- Present findings to project teams and contribute recommendations for next steps.
2. Microbiological support (secondary)
- Perform routine microbiological analyses (total plate count, yeast & mold, LAB, and indicator organisms).
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and established SOPs.
- Record, verify, and report test results accurately in laboratory records and systems.
- Work alongside a senior microbiologist, who will coach you were needed.
3. Project & cross functional collaboration
- Support innovation and customer projects by delivering timely analytical results and clear data summaries.
- Participate in project meetings and, when required, join discussions with customers to present results or insights.
- Work closely with Applications, Sales, and Business Development to translate technical findings into meaningful support for customers.
- Participate and arrange a discussions with colleagues in the Netherlands to review the analytical results and key findings.
4. Laboratory operations & continuous improvement
- Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and compliance, especially in regulated microbiology areas.
- Take ownership of assigned lab spaces, equipment, and consumables.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of SOPs, workflows, and documentation (with guidance from senior specialists).
- Participate in sustainability initiatives and required EHS and quality training.
You bring
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, or related field.
- 1–5 years of hands-on experience in analytical chemistry.
- Practical experience with core analytical instrumentation (HPLC/UPLC, GC).
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation discipline.
- A proactive, hands-on, “can-do” mindset with the flexibility to adjust priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues across functions and different locations
- Ability to work full time on site.
- Basic knowledge of microbiology.
- Mandarin proficiency.
