Senior Technical Service Specialist - Meat

The role
As Senior Technical Service Specialist - Meat, you play a critical, highly customer facing role within Corbion’s APAC RD&A organization. Reporting to the RD&A Director based in Singapore, you are the go to expert for processed meat applications, combining deep hands-on industry experience with strong communication and commercial awareness.
This role sits at the intersection of technical expertise, customer engagement, and business development. You will support existing customers, develop new opportunities, and translate market and customer needs into practical, value adding meat solutions. While customer interaction is the primary focus, you will also remain closely connected to the application laboratory and project execution to ensure credibility and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the technical meat expert for customers and commercial teams, providing guidance on Corbion ingredients, formulations, processing methods, troubleshooting, and application best practices.
• Translate customer and market needs (e.g. preservation, shelf life extension, color stability, clean label solutions) into clear project briefs, technical concepts, and prototypes.
• Lead and execute customer technical service and application projects from initiation through pilot and inplant trials to commercialization.
• Present technical solutions convincingly to customers and support decision making through data, prototypes, and demonstrations.
• Work side by side with customers during plant trials and implementation, including hands-on support where required.
• Collaborate closely with Sales and Business Development to support value selling, manage existing accounts, and help develop new customer opportunities.
• Actively contribute to new business development by leveraging your industry network, identifying prospects, and supporting early stage technical discussions.
• Partner with global RD&A teams on meat related platform technologies and innovation initiatives.
• Deliver internal and external training sessions for commercial teams, distributors, and customers on meat applications and ingredient technologies.
• Maintain UpToDate knowledge of meat processing technologies, food safety microbiology, and industry best practices.
• Spend approximately 20–30% of time in the application laboratory, including trial design, lab work when needed, and maintaining technical alignment with the team.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, hygiene, SOPs, and documentation requirements, and support internal and external audits.
• Build and maintain strong external networks with customers, industry peers, academia, and suppliers to accelerate learning and innovation.

You bring

• An MSc in Food Science, Meat Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in the meat processing industry, with exposure to a broad range of products (e.g. whole muscle, sausages, fermented meats).
• Strong B2C (end product manufacturing) experience; experience in B2B ingredients is a plus but not mandatory.
• Proven hands on expertise in meat formulation, application, processing, and functional ingredients.
• Solid understanding of food safety, microbiology, and industrial meat manufacturing practices.
• Strong customer facing skills with the ability to present, influence, and build trust with customers at different levels.
• A commercial mindset with the ability to translate voice of customer into value propositions and practical solutions.
• Comfort working independently across markets, while collaborating closely with regional and global teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English
• High energy level and flexibility, with willingness to travel up to 30%
