POSITION SUMMARY:

Position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. The Document Control Specialist assists with the research, verification, implementation and control of quality system procedures, documents and batch sheets. Audits quality systems and assists with continuous improvement efforts. Reviews trending and corrective actions to determine reasonable and effective resolutions are implemented.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research quality system documentation to identify discrepancies and follow-up with appropriate departments to achieve resolution.
  • Verify through auditing that quality system procedures and documents are accurate.
  • Quality/GMP/CCP records review for completeness.
  • Support record keeping on safety program.
  • Create or modify quality system documents as appropriate in coordination with department coordinators.
  • Audit and reconciliation of batch sheet, control batch sheet changes.
  • Develop tools to track errors and identify corrective action.
  • Develop trend reports for corrective actions and follow-up to monitor effective resolutions.
  • Verify through auditing production records that batch record reports are accurate and balanced.
  • Assist with root cause analysis when discrepancies are found through all quality system audits.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Quality Control Manager.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in related area preferred or equivalent experience. 
  • Must have experience dealing with document control and auditing as well as practical understanding of batch sheet control and accounting.
  • ISO or Global Food Safety Initiative system experience preferred.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer and internet knowledge, problem solving, multi-tasking and strong organizational skills are necessary as well.
  • Willingness to work second or third shift with occasional weekend shifts
