Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the operational inspection, cleaning, and upkeep of all facilities-related equipment in the plant. This includes performing breakdowns, reassembly, sanitation of production equipment, janitorial duties, and basic facility repairs. The role also involves operating various industrial machines and vehicles to support plant operations and sanitation standards. There are both 1st (6AM - 2:30PM) and 2nd (2PM - 10:30) shift positions available.
Essential Functions

Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.

Perform cleaning and sanitizing of equipment per Plant Operating Standards.

Conduct system washouts and reassembly of production equipment following company procedures.

Operate facility equipment such as washing machines, trash compactors, cardboard compactors, powered industrial trucks, scissor lifts, boom lifts, hoists, and floor scrubbers (training provided).

Perform janitorial duties throughout the facility, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.

Use hand and power tools to perform basic facility repairs.

Accurately document activities, repairs, and parts usage in CMMS systems.

Follow all safety protocols, including emergency procedures, PPE usage, and lockout/tagout requirements.

Assist in training new personnel and support other departments as needed.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members via written, oral, or plant communication systems.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or its equivalent.

Minimum 3 years of maintenance or facilities experience; food or beverage manufacturing environment preferred.

Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools.

Comfortable using CMMS systems to track work orders and inventory.

Ability to follow procedures and safety protocols.
-
Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
Working Environment:
-
Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise.

Workers may be exposed to elevated temperatures during the summer months; and some work may be required in cold environments during winter months.

Workers are required to wear GMP compliant hair and beard nets, company-provided uniforms, and gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.

In this position, you may be exposed to common airborne or surface food allergens—including, but not limited to, wheat, soy, eggs, dairy, and sesame—during the handling, mixing, storage, transport of materials, or when accessing the production floor.
Physical Requirements:

Climbing, balancing stooping, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting overhead, use of fingers, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Reaches above and below the shoulders.

Frequently uses hand/finger dexterity for typing.

Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are usually involved in performing written and verbal job functions.

Frequently lift 55-pounds.
Our offer
This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Compensation and other terms and conditions of employment are subject to the provisions of that agreement. Please note, pay rates and compensation programs may be modified in the future based on business needs, policy updates, or union negotiations, as applicable. The compensation for this position is a fixed hourly rate of $22.00 per hour. In addition to the base rate, shift differentials apply as follows: $1.10 per hour for second shift and $ 1.65 per hour for third shift. In addition, we offer the following benefits*:
