As our EH&S  Specialist, you will report to the Site Director and will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program for the Tucker site including safety and environmental permitting and compliance; safety and environmental training including course development; PPE program administration; and program auditing. You will ensure that Corbion complies with applicable federal, state, and county EH&S laws, regulations, and standards.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement, execute, and promote  safety of our colleagues and products using current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's), adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security Measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. 
  • Lead and work with the Site Safety Committee.
  • Maintain training materials to ensure they are current and meet company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Organize all training materials electronically for retention and use.
  • Develop new training materials based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), policies, and regulations. 
  • Manage assigned courses to be delivered including schedules, resources, and communications. Coordinates training sessions with departments.
  • Deliver training to new hires and existing staff.
  • Work with senior management in the development, planning and implementation of industrial, health, and safety programs.
  • Complete corrective and preventative action items as assigned.
  • Create and maintain reports as requested; coordinate with company managers to ensure timely submittal of required information.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through visible efforts to prevent employee injury and illness and damage to the environment.
  • Update and maintain all EHS files, records, metrics, training materials and SDS sheets.
  • Research best practices and current EHS issues to develop and present training programs that improves understanding and engagement in the EHS program.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and company procedures and initiatives.
  • Track and record the effectiveness of the EHS programs, and communicate effectively with  leadership to identify and recommend new learning opportunities.
  • Lead the implementation of behavior-based-safety (BBS) at the Tucker site.

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Associate’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Industrial Hygiene; Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in related area (Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or Industrial Hygiene) preferred. 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of EHS
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Knowledge and experience with EHS Management systems and processes to include LOTO, confined space, respiratory protection, working at heights and hot work
  • Experience with work place evaluation procedures such as work permits, JSAs, risk assessments, and incident investigations including RCA procedures
  • Displays leadership behaviors
  • Familiar with behavior based safety programs, working experience preferred.
  • Familiar with ISO 45001 standard, working experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with web based tools and applications.
  • Occasional international travel may be required. 

 

General Working Environment

  • The EHS Specialist is required to work in an office setting and in the plant; with some tasks taking place inside of and outside of the plant.  
  • The EHS Specialist is subject to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields, rubber gloves and uniform clothing.

Through the course of a typical shift an individual in this position will perform the following activities;
