The Senior Technician is responsible for the design, development, and operation of equipment and systems that manufacture biomaterial based polymers, glass fibers and other products produced at the Tucker, GA  Biomaterials facility.  The Senior Technician is a key contributor in the day-to-day production of data and prototypes within the RD&A team to establish new production processes.  You will  work closely with the team to assist moving  project toward commercialization.

 

You will be responsible for conducting analytical tests on produced prototypes to make, in cooperation with the project Engineers, data driven decisions about development activities.  This position operates in an independent manner to perform all job functions with the objective of meeting Company goals for safety, quality, innovation, customer satisfaction, and cost efficiency.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Participate in the day-to-day execution of projects as well as strategic initiatives that includes self-motivated work planning and decision making.
  • Support the development and transfer of new products and technologies from bench scale to production in compliance with medical device and pharmaceutical regulations according to a predefined project plan.
  • Develop new products and solve technical problems using a strong knowledge base in polymer and bio-glass characterization methods to support development efforts. 
  • Execute in vitro evaluation techniques to characterize new products.  This includes the independent production of prototypes using knowledge of polymer processing techniques such as injection molding, extrusion, composite manufacturing, and compression molding.
  • Assist in the completion of equipment qualification and process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ, and PV).
  • Participate in the development of SOP's and training of operations personnel during design transfer.
  • Assist maintenance technicians or contractors in performing maintenance and repairs as required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • BS Degree in Bioengineering, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline or 5+ years of related professional experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in the pharma or medical device industry or relevant experience in an academic environment.
  • Proficiency in conducting polymers and/or glass analysis
  • Ability to independently specify, design, and construct development and production polymer processing equipment and dies using SolidWorks modeling software.
  • Previous experience working in polymer synthesis, polymer processing, textiles, composites, and/or glass fiber production or processing preferred
  • Logical problem solving to assess and construct tactical development activities to advance product and technology development, which includes the identification and implementation of opportunities for improvement
  • Experience using analytical methods, which  include mechanical, physical, thermal, and chemical techniques.
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, SolidWorks)
  • Prior experience working within  cGMP, FDA and OSHA regulations.
