Position Summary:


The Product Development Project Manager (PDPM) is responsible for managing and tracking all project deliverables associated with the commercialization of the FiberLive® product platform.  This high impact position will influence the medical device industry by developing and commercializing novel biomaterials.   As the primary point of contact within the project team, the PDPM will work cross-functionally to plan, schedule, resource, and manage the technical, quality, and operational activities associated with concept development through product launch.  In addition, the PDPM will contribute to the completion of project deliverables to meet product development requirements.  The successful candidate will be an energetic, self-starter with a drive to achieve results and expand their technical knowledge base.





  • Act as the primary point of contact for development projects to facilitate organizational alignment with respect to scope, budgets, technical objectives, quality objectives, and timing to meet organizational growth initiatives
  • Manage projects to drive new biomaterial innovation platforms through to commercialization while also contributing to the needed project documentation for design control compliance
  • Organize and lead regular project team meetings to ensure project deliverables are on-time, within budget, and meet internal quality standards
  • Interact daily with the cross-functional team members to monitor needs and requirements to complete tactical project objectives
  • Translate business strategy into project scope, plans, budgets, and general project documentation
  • Perform oversite of managed project(s) and report regularly on project status with detailed, accurate, and candid written and verbal communication to upper management
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process to provide product roadmaps for existing and future innovation projects and monitor current year budgets
  • Interface with partner companies in the medical device field to communicate (verbal and written) project status and project milestones
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) within the organization for the staged development of products
  • Engage and contribute to the technical development of new technologies, which includes glass processing, polymer processing, composite technology, and polymer synthesis
  • Identify and make optimal use of resources to meet tactical and strategic project objectives
  • Build and maintain project documentation in a history file
  • Organize and lead product design reviews, equipment qualification, risk management, design planning, and validation planning activities
  • Work closely with business development to facilitate the supply of customer sample materials and development runs



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or other relevant field, Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years project management and product development experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience launching products in a cGMP and regulated industry to ISO and FDA compliance standards
  • Strong decision making, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to proactively lead teams and work cross-functionally to achieve business objectives
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and efficient work habits
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including familiarity with Microsoft Project and Microsoft  Visio
  • Experience with scaling-up operations and transferring developed products into production is preferred
  • Expertise in the characterization and processing of glass, polymers, or composites is a plus
  • Ability to travel – 10% as determined by business requirements, including travel outside of U.S.
